Grown of not, they're still your kids--and sometimes you think they need your help, even though they don't want you to act like a parent anymore. Other times, they want something from you--but you want them to stop acting like children and get on with their lives. --Dr. Frain

THE STORY BEHIND Becoming a Wise Parent for Your Grown Child
Dr. Frain and Eileen Clegg were inspired to write this book in the mid 1990's when Dr. Frain was a family therapist and Eileen was a news reporter in Sonoma County, CA. Betty and Eileen had up close involvement with people experiencing challenges and trauma. They realized that there was a factor that seemed to make a significant difference in whether people crumbled or thrived amid personal crisis. When people had the support of their extended families when multiple generations came together to help someone who was ill or troubled, they seemed to handle difficulties more easily. Dr Frain found that they also recover more quickly from psychological effects of trauma. Dr. Frain and Eileen explored further why some families have this wonderful gift of inter-generational love and support and others had lost the traditions and habits necessary to stay connected.
